Teaching Portfolio
Sean Smith’s teaching portfolio is designed in Expression Engine and involves several sections including student work, materials development, resume, teaching philosophy, & teaching demonstration.
The resume page is designed without tables and replicates the tab stops used in MSword. Streaming video was also required but not using YouTube. This was done with the flash video plugin for Expression Engine. Adding a video to an entry is as simple as uploading it and then adding a link to an entry - the video is automatically embedded.
The rotating images on the left side bar are easily updated through the web site control panel. All that is needed is to upload the file and add the link to the entry and a new image will be added to the rotating list. The rotation is accomplished using jQuery and the cycle plugin.
Jquery was further used to add animation to the drop down menus. The main navigation and side menus are generated by the categories assigned to each entry in the site.
